The Cat Cafe Prepares for Comic-Con

As those of you who have been following what happens with The Cat Cafe during Comic-Con know, during the time of the show, we move to a reservations only system. If there are spaces available during a specific time, we will allow walk ins. But if the session is sold out, then we do not admit any walk ins.

With 135,000 additional people in downtown San Diego, we simply cannot operate under our normal procedures. And we do not do any adoptions during Comic-Con. As Karla Peterson from the San Diego Union Tribune wrote, even Iron Man wouldn’t want to walk through the crowds with a cat carrier.

We at The Cat Cafe want to make sure everyone has time to reserve their spots. That’s why we’re announcing our Comic-Con policy now, a month in advance. You can book a spot for Comic-Con now. If you want to make The Cat Cafe part of your experience, we recommend you do so quickly. Spots do fill up, and we had to turn away people last year. Don’t let this happen to you, and book your spot today.

In addition to this system, which we’ve had in place for Comic-Con since 2015, we’ve got something new. We’re happy to announce that noted author Amy Chu will be signing copies of her Sea Sirens graphic novel on preview night.

We are limiting the number of people who can attend this to 50 and we’re holding two one hour sessions, at 4:00 and 5:00. Reservations are required for this event, and they’re going to go fast. Who wouldn’t want a chance to get a book signed by an author as well known as Amy? Book your spot now so you don’t miss out.

Amy has been writing comics since 2011 and began working in the industry full time in 2016, when she premiered the standalone Poison Ivy series for DC. Since then, her works include the KISS series, Betty and Veronica Meet Vampirella, Red Sonja, Green Hornet, and SUMMIT. Sea Sirens (Viking Press) inspired by L. Frank Baum’s Sea Fairies, is her 2nd children’s graphic novel and features an adopted cat that can surf!

We at The Cat Cafe look forward to welcoming you during Comic-Con. Customers tell us the calm and relaxed environment we help provide is one of the best parts of the show. And we’re glad we can bring that to you once again.
