Join Us for The Cat Cafe Fifth Anniversary Party

Can you believe that The Cat Cafe is approaching its fifth anniversary? We opened with full hours and five adoptable cats from San Diego Humane Society on January 5, 2015. Many things have changed since then. We’ve improved the customer experience. We’ve added additional seating. The cats at The Cat Cafe are very happy that…

Three Cats Adopted From The Cat Cafe in November 2019

It wasn’t a busy month for us when it came to adoptions at The Cat Cafe in November. We sent one bonded pair, Lupita and Luis home as well as our first FIV positive cat, Armani. We’ll miss having these cats welcome us as we arrived every day, but we’re glad they found good homes….

The Cat Cafe Sends Six Cats Home in October 2019

October is when things settle in for us at The Cat Cafe. The crowds from the summer are gone. And as people settle in to the school year, we see more people from the local universities. That doesn’t mean we don’t continue to adopt out cats, though. We sent six cats home in October. Georgia,…

Two Cats Adopted From The Cat Cafe in September 2019

In September, the busy summer season ends and people head back to school and work. That didn’t keep us from continuing to send cats home from The Cat Cafe. We sent Mariposa, who was our stand in for Goose during Comic-Con, and Honey, another ginger mother, to good homes in September. We had fewer visitors…

The Cat Cafe Sends Five Cats Home in August 2019

In August, things calm down for us at The Cat Cafe. We don’t have four days where there are an extra 135,000 people in downtown San Diego. But we’re still busy, and we’re taking care of a lot of customers who decide to visit America’s Finest City for their summer vacation. That can make things…

The Cat Cafe Sends Nine Cats Home in June and July

It’s been a busy summer for us at The Cat Cafe. We apologize for not keeping our blog posts as frequent as we’d like. In addition to doing the normal things we do for the summer, we also redesigned our website and we wanted to make sure things were working well before we did additional blog posts. But now that things are working, we’re glad to be able to tell you that we sent nine cats home in the months of June and July and that we raised nearly $1,000 for The Rescue House over those two months. Given that we freeze adoptions for the week of Comic-Con due to the high traffic in the area, we’ll take it. We miss having Gaia, Poppy, Wolf, Fox, Hilda, Solange, Audie, Tiki and Jeanette around. But we’re glad they went to good…

The Cat Cafe Sends Five Cats Home in May 2019

May is when business starts to pick up for the summer at The Cat Cafe. We get a lot of people starting to visit who don’t live in the San Diego area, and who can’t adopt. But we still sent five cats home in May 2019. One the adoptions we did was our first three cat adoption, when Dexi, Marley, and Tiki all went home. In addition to this family, who we at The Cat Cafe are so excited to have been able to keep together, we sent home Tieu Ho and Buttercup. In addition, visitors to The Cat Cafe donated $350 to The Rescue House in May. This will help The Rescue House continue to find homes for cats throughout the San Diego area. When cats go home, new cats arrive. Meet the new arrivals at The Cat Cafe….

The Cat Cafe Prepares for Comic-Con

As those of you who have been following what happens with The Cat Cafe during Comic-Con know, during the time of the show, we move to a reservations only system. If there are spaces available during a specific time, we will allow walk ins. But if the session is sold out, then we do not admit any walk ins. With 135,000 additional people in downtown San Diego, we simply cannot operate under our normal procedures. And we do not do any adoptions during Comic-Con. As Karla Peterson from the San Diego Union Tribune wrote, even Iron Man wouldn’t want to walk through the crowds with a cat carrier. We at The Cat Cafe want to make sure everyone has time to reserve their spots. That’s why we’re announcing our Comic-Con policy now, a month in advance. You can book a…

Six Cats Find Homes Through The Cat Cafe in April 2019

It was a rainy April for us here in San Diego, but that didn’t stop visitors to The Cat Cafe from adopting cats. We sent six of them home during the month. We will miss seeing Cricket, Rally, Indie, Daniel, Hennrick, and Tito every day. But we are happy they went to homes where they’re loved. In addition to adopting these cats, visitors contributed $362 to The Rescue House. This will help them continue their mission of helping cats find homes. As you know, when cats leave The Cat Cafe, we bring new ones in. We wanted to introduce you to the latest arrivals. First up is an entire family. Tiki is the mother, and she’s two years old. She and her one year old daughter Dexi and son Marley joined us together. Tiki can be feisty, and she is…

The Cat Cafe Sends Eight Cats Home in March 2019

March was a busy month for us at The Cat Cafe. Not only did we have spring break, which brought a lot of visitors, but we had a lot of cats going home. Some of them were long term residents. In March 2019, we sent home Cadu, Sombrera, Rey, Lotus, Vicki, Spike, Constantina and Norman. We will miss these cats, but sending them home is one of the goals here at The Cat Cafe. In addition, our visitors were generous and they helped us generate $463 in contributions for The Rescue House. That money does many things, including keeping the cats residing at The Cat Cafe fed with high quality food. With cats going out, we have a lot of new cats coming in. We’ll introduce you to them here. First up is a bonded pair of cats, Daisy and…

The Cat Cafe Raises $410 for The Rescue House In February

February may only have 28 days, but it was a busy month for us at The Cat Cafe. And our visitors were generous, which is why we were able to send $410 to The Rescue House. This money will help The Rescue House continue their mission of helping cats find good homes. In addition to raising these funds, nine members of The Cat Cafe clowder found good homes. We’ll miss Callie, Milkweed, Monarch, Mike, Mitch, Feather, Stripes, Cannoli and Strudel. But we’re glad they left The Cat Cafe for good homes. With so many cats going home, we’ve got a lot of new cats to introduce you to. We’ll start off with Leo. Leo is an eight year old bengal cat with a sad story. When his people moved, they left him behind in the home. Fortunately for Leo, one…

Meet The Latest Members of The Cat Cafe Clowder

We’ve had a lot of adoptions recently at The Cat Cafe. Some of the adoptions took place so quickly we didn’t even have a chance to introduce you to the cat before they went home. The Rescue House got busy finding new cats to bring to us after we sent so many cats home. This means we’ve got a bunch of cats to introduce you to. The first cat we’ll introduce you to is Cadu. You’ll often find him on the top of the Urban Feline Caribbean palm. This two year old boy likes his people, and will give head bonks and flop over when he starts to like you. He’s more cautious around other cats, but we think he’ll start to like them too when he gets more used to them. Sombrera is the next new member of The…
